Every employee at Iron Galaxy has one Volunteer Day they can use to make the world a better place. It’s an aspect of our benefits that empower people to live our values. Everyone can use it however they want, and the opportunities are endless. Iron Galaxy is always passionate about investing in our local communities.

Late October, Iron Galaxy’s own Josh Schoenbachler hosted a gamified food drive to gather donations for Second Harvest Food Bank. The challenge was clear: Bring at least one food item to donate and you can enjoy a playthrough of Resident Evil with expert commentary. Josh took a creative approach to his volunteer day, and thanks to it, gathered donations for his local community. Hear about the spooky, impactful day straight from the source.

: I was feeling pretty down about the many food insecure people in our area. I saw a call to action to help, so I donated money to Second Harvest Food Bank. To distract myself, I played one of my favorite comfort video games, Resident Evil. While I was playing, I just couldn't stop worrying, so I thought about any other ways I could help. Some people at work had recently told me they had never played Resident Evil. It was literally right there in front of me so I figured it would be a fun way to entice people into donating. I asked them to bring some food and experience a piece of gaming history in a fun, social setting. I'm really proud of my coworkers in the Nashville studio for stepping up to bring in donations!

Josh entertained his fellow desk mates with the history of one of his favorite games. He brought out the trivia all while highlighting the things he finds special about the Resident Evil series. Clever and thoughtful approach to your volunteer day, Josh. We look forward to seeing how you spend your volunteer day in 2026.
