
For the 2nd season of live content, Xbox empowered us to take over as the lead developer of the Killer Instinct franchise. Alongside the team at Xbox, we developed two seasons and a subsequent mid-season update that included additional playable characters, ambitious new modes, and a complete port of the Xbox One project to Windows and Steam. We later returned to the project, engaging directly with IP owners and the player community, to release a 10-year anniversary update that included new combat design tuning and an overhaul of the user interface.
ART: Designed 21 additional characters, delivering new models, animation, sound, and VFX.
GAMEPLAY: Worked in the proprietary Hex Engine to develop new single-player content.
GRAPHICS: Conducted a full overhaul on game performance, VFX, and lighting systems.
NETWORKING: Delivered rollback netcode and ongoing adjustments based on performance.
LIVE SERVICES: Delivered gameplay balance updates to keep the online community engaged.
QUALITY ASSURANCE: Combat testing and design feedback from our fighting game experts.
UI DESIGN: Completed a full overhaul of the game user interface for each new season.
COMMUNITY: Engaged directly with the community to solicit feedback and set expectations.
PRODUCTION: Coordinated various development disciplines in collaboration with Xbox.
